Now Available on Ning: Listings by Apps.IO

We're pleased to announce the release of our latest app, Listings. Listings by Apps.IO allows your members to easily post classified ad or other similar listings on your social network. Listings offers many advanced customization options, such as custom listing fields, which allows site owners to add or remove the questions users are asked when they add a listing. To learn more about Listings or to install Listings, click here.

Upcoming Features
+ The ability to charge members to post a listing.
+ Listing Administrators.
+ Subcategories.

While we had originally planned to include the above additional features in this initial beta release, they haven't yet achieved the stability we require. For this reason, we're not including them in this initial release. However, we're actively working on them and will be including them in future updates very soon.

I just installed Listings (Premium) and am a bit disappointed at how long it takes to load. I fear that people will leave the page in the time it takes to load up as it appears nothing is there. Is there anything that can be done about this? http://www.stapletonconnect.com

Hello, Melissa!

We do currently plan on adding an optional "Categories View" like was offered in the original LiveWired Classifieds addon. Currently, the free version of Listings only supports 5 custom categories, however you can setup up to 50 categories in the premium version. Support for administrators in Listings is a feature we're working on adding. Initially the payment gateway will be entirely through PayPal, however we'd like to add support for additional payment gateways later on down the line. As to how soon we add the other features, we're currently focusing on getting the ability to charge for listings out first (preferably sometime this month) and then we'll be moving on to adding the other features shortly after.

Thanks,
The Apps.IO Support Team

Hello me again :) I set up a mock site for myself to see what was available to the creator. It would appear that site administrators are not set up to be able to create anything on the listings section. My site creator is sending in a note to see if this can be changed so that administrators can have control over the listings, I thought I would also ask to see if this is possible. Also on noticed on my mock site that you can create categories, only 5 :( but if some one adds a listing it appears on the front page with the categories. I see that in the comment below you mentioned that this will be corrected in a future update, any idea on when. I would like to be able to roll this out on my site soon :) Ok one more thing, when the feature is added to charge people for their add or listing will it all be through Pay Pal?

Thanks,
Melissa

Is there a way to have it the way the classifieds used to be? Here is a site to show what I mean.
Thank you, Melissa Campbell

Hello, Mike!

Currently it's not possible to modify the number of listings shown in the category preview when you have more than one category. However, we will be adding additional homepage view options in a future update.

Thanks,

How do I increase the number of listings displayed on the Listings home page? It only defaults to 3 per category I think.

Hello!

We're currently working on an advanced product feature list and will be posting it on this page as soon as it's ready.

Only members of your Ning network are allowed to post listings, and should an inappropriate listing be posted the network owner is able to delete any listing. (We're working to also allow for admins to be able to do this as well)

Depending on how you're charging members to use areas of your site it may or may not be possible to prevent non-paying members from using this feature. However, we will be adding the ability to charge members to post a listing in a future release.

Thanks,
The Apps.IO Support Team

Is there more info on this?

If I understand this App... my members can list items for sale directly through my site correct?

How would I control who lists and what they list?

Suppose someone joins and sells lead toys from china.... LOL.... I'm kidding but you get the idea?

And can I set it up that only paying members can use this App? I have a site with both free membership and paid membership, but how would I distinguish the two on this App?
