New in Listings and Answers: Ning Main Page support.

We've just added support to our Listings & Answers apps for the newly released ability to make Ning Apps appear on the Main page of your Ning network. As of now our Listings and Answers apps support this feature. You can add it to your network's main page by visiting the "Manage" -> "Features" section on your network and then dragging the app's icon into your Main page layout area.

You can then configure the number of items the module displays by clicking the "Edit Module" link within the module on your network's main page. In the Listings app, it's also possible to show either the Latest Listings or Featured Listings.

I'm the founder of job board CollegeRecruiter.com. We migrated to the Ning network in late July and am interested in learning more about Listings. I suspect that we'll need some significant customization to it but that's just a suspicion based upon the small amount of information available here and in the article about Benjamin Cavanaugh published by Ning.

We're planning to build a self-service system for our clients so they can log into their accounts, post jobs, edit them, pay on-line, etc. and Listings seems like a good fit for that. What I can't tell is if Listings will allow us to import into it or perhaps export out of it an XML or other such job feed. Most of the jobs on our site come to us via feeds from ad agencies and other partners and we also send our job postings to partners like Indeed.

Can I get a demo from someone at Apps.IO so we can also discuss what customization is available and at what cost?

Hello, Kris!

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the app? (Doing so will not result in the loss of any app data.) If that doesn't work, please let us know. (In that event, we'd also recommend reporting the issue to Ning, as there may be an issue with your network.)

Hello, Ken!

What you're experiencing may be related to a caching delay or some other issue on the Ning Apps platform. I realized this is an inconvenience, but so far the only solution we've found when this occurs is to uninstall the app and install it again. It should then show up correctly on the main page.

Best Regards,

I've tried this but the listings app is still not being displayed on the main page. Can't see the ''edit module'' link on the main page either.

However, In 'Manage->Features'' the lIstings app is displayed in the main module section of my site.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Ken
