I used to use the livewired app for sharing music on NING...

I created a new social network and wanted to add the same app but it doenst work anymore.

Will there be something similar in the future for NING from Apps.IO?

I'd really love it!

Thanks,
Zohra

Hello,

At the current moment, it isn't yet possible to provide the same exact functionality via the Ning Apps Platform. The LiveWired Music Jukebox Addon utilized the songs already uploaded via the Ning-Built Music feature. The ability to access content in other features is something Ning has indicated as a planned feature of the Ning Apps Platform, but isn't yet available. We're definitely planning to release a new product similar to the LiveWired Music Jukebox Addon as soon as it is possible to access content in other features via the Ning Apps Platform.

Thanks,

I can't find any reason WHY did you block us from this Apps... This is a hit and cool for NING Application...

Why it takes so long for you to upgrade or port it to NING's platform...

What's out for competitors...

Hello everyone,

We can definitely appreciate the interest in a Music app and we'd love to be able to offer it once again, however at this time it's still not possible. I'd like to provide some insight as to why, to help clear up the confusion.

1. We no longer offer the Music Jukebox product because it's no longer possible to install it on a Ning Social Network. The installation method is regrettably no longer possible on the Ning Platform, and it makes no sense for us to offer or advertise a product that simply cannot be installed. (That's why we've removed the links about Music Jukebox from our site.)

2. It's currently not possible to access content from Ning built features via the Ning Apps API, however this is something Ning has indicated it will add in the future. To build a music app that functions like Music Jukebox did requires access to content from the Ning built Music feature. Because it's not yet possible to access content from Ning's Music feature, it's currently not possible for anyone (us or a competitor) to build an app with the exact features of Music Jukebox without breaking Ning's Terms of Service.

Currently, your best bet would to be to write Ning to request that they add the ability to browse & search Music to their Music feature. With enough requests, Ning might add that functionality directly to their Music feature. If that were to happen, it would definitely provide a cleaner integration than any 3rd Party app could provide and it would probably happen sooner than the updates to the Ning Apps platform.

Best Regards,

Thanks for letting us know about this, and i understood this already from one of your previous replies! :)

However, i think NING is much less fun then it used to be, with all their strict rules and changing policies all the time, and i believe for developers it's also no fun to develope anything for NING anymore.

I wonder if it would help if we send out the request for the points you gave, but ok, we can at least try!

Thanks!

I have read that Ning is worth over 600$ million USD. The only reason that I can see why they would not have a music player for us to use at our discretion, with moderate, albeit necessary rules, is control. If I am wrong, please correct me.

I might add, it seems to me that this is the way the "Big Players" seem to be headed.

Hope I am wrong!

Ning is definetly killing my creativity by taking away simple features. My site was based on music and now I am struggling with it because I can not create apps to go with my network.

Also I am very skeptical how ning has changed their wording. Before it was create your own network. Which made me feel like the network was mine and Ning was helping me.
NOw it is "Create a NIng Network" which makes me feel like I work for NING.

I guess we all do because non of us has control over our networks. Ning changes things for us with out even asking.

Of course the only way we can control our destiny is to agree with many others, otherwise money has control. I am sure, however, that other site, like ning, or even superior to ning, will pop up, we just have to keep our eyes open and seize any and all opportunity. We create our own reality. We can create something better.
